Marlen Reusser has won the first-ever women's WorldTour edition of Dwars door Vlaanderen. Former teammates Vollering and Reusser seemed destined to sprint for the win until they were surprised by a late jump from Nooijen in the final kilometer. Vollering had to give everything to catch the Dutchwoman, and Reusser took full advantage of that effort. The Swiss rider secured her first victory of the season.

As of today, Amy Pieters is the only rider to have won Dwars door Vlaanderen three times. The Dutch rider did so three times in a row between 2014 and 2016. In her first win in 2014, she won in a sprint of five ahead of Kim de Baat. A year later, she defeated Floortje Mackaij, her teammate at Team Liv-Plantur. In 2016, the race ended in a bunch sprint. In this, Pieters was faster than her teammate at Wiggle – High5, Jolien D’hoore.
